Overview

Nestled in pine trees, out of the beaten path, walk to the...
June Lake shore... what more could want!
Easy access to fishing, a marina and boat rentals make June Lake Campground a favorite spot for both families and anglers. The facility sits in the eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains in close proximity to the Ansel Adams Wilderness, Yosemite National Park and Mono Lake. The town of June Lake offers the convenience of shopping and dining, while the surrounding land and lakes provide ample outdoor recreation opportunities.

Natural Features:

Campsites are located in a mixed aspen and pine forest above the eastern shoreline of beautiful, 257-acre June Lake. Many points in the campground have views of the surrounding 11,000 and 12,000' peaks. The campground's elevation is 7,600 feet.

Many species of wildlife call the mountains home, such as black bear, mountain lions, mule deer, pine marten, pika and numerous fish and birds.

Recreation:
Campers have no problem staying busy and enjoying the outdoors. Fishing for rainbow and Alpers trout, canoeing, boating and walking are just some of the activities available around the lake.

Numerous trails lie minutes away, an obvious draw for hikers, mountain bikers and off-road vehicle enthusiasts. The Fern Lake Trail, a short drive away, leads into the scenic Ansel Adams Wilderness. Skiing is a major winter pastime in the area.

A drive along the June Lake Loop results in expansive views of rugged mountain peaks and several lakes.

Facilities:
The campground is a moderate size, with campsites scattered around a few overlapping loops. The facility provides drinking water, flush toilets and bear-proof lockers for food storage. Two marinas are close by, though not directly within the campground. Gift shopping, groceries and restaurants are within walking distance in the town of June Lake.

Nearby Attractions:

Mammoth Lakes, where "no way" is never far away. Majestic in scale and awesome in its natural beauty, the year-round adventureland of Mammoth Lakes is one of those rare places that you have to see to still not totally believe. The name speaks to the size of the mountains, the expanse of the valleys, the incredible number of crystal clear mountain lakes and the endless opportunities for adventure just outside your door. But what makes this place really unique are the surreal storybook scenes that drop jaws, spark the imagination and make every moment feel like a brush with the truly incredible. Mammoth Lakes. No Small Adventure.

Mono Lake and its many activities are minutes away. Hikers can access the scenic Ansel Adams Wilderness via nearby trails, and Yosemite National Park is a great day trip.

Mammoth Mountain Ski Resort boasts an impressive 400 inches of annual snowfall and the highest summit elevation in the state of California at a height of 11,053ft. Located in the southwest corner of the volcanic Long Valley Caldera on the eastern edge of California’s Sierra Nevada Mountain Range; Mammoth Mountain lives up to its name by offering over 3,500 skiable acres and a 3,100ft vertical drop.

The resort is home to modern facilities, excellent terrain options, and an extended ski season that can sometimes last into July. The mountain has a variety of expansive bowls, tree skiing, wide open groomers, steep chutes and world-class terrain parks.

IMG_6820Most visitors stay in the town of Mammoth Lakes, California. The resort is a great starting point to explore the Sierra Nevada Mountains and is only about an hour drive from Yosemite National Park.

Bodie State Historic Park is a genuine California gold-mining ghost town. Visitors can walk down the deserted streets of a town that once had a population of nearly 10,000 people. The town is named for Waterman S. Body (William Bodey), who had discovered small amounts of gold in hills north of Mono Lake. In 1875, a mine cave-in revealed pay dirt, which led to purchase of the mine by the Standard Company in 1877. People flocked to Bodie and transformed it from a town of a few dozen to a boomtown.
