2010 E.D.G.E. Ministry Camping and Road-Trip: June 26 to 29, 2010














This year's E.D.G.E ministry camping trip will be in Inyo National Forest June 26th to 29th (Saturday to Tuesday).


REGISTRATION IS CLOSED!

Located in California's beautiful Eastern Sierra, the Inyo National Forest offers clean air, crystal blue skies, mountain lakes and streams, challenging trails, high mountain peaks, and beautiful views. With over two million acres, the Inyo National Forest is home to many natural wonders, including Mt. Whitney, Mono Lake, Mammoth Lakes Basin, and the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest, as well as seven Congressionally-designated Wildernesses, comprising over 650,000 acres of land.

Agnew Meadows campground, which is located at 8400' elevation, is near the trailhead for the Pacific Crest Trail and John Muir Trails. You can connect from here to thousands of miles of hiking trails.

What You Should Know & Itinerary for

PROPOSED ITINERARY - FOR EASTERN SIERRA NEVADA 2010 CAMPING TRIP

6AM Saturday, June 26: Caravan Meets (meet at Porter Ranch Town Center - In-N-Out, 118 Fwy & Porter Ranch Drive, click here for map)
7AM Saturday, June 26: Caravan Leaves Chatsworth
9AM Saturday, June 26: Pit Stop - Palmdale
12PM Saturday, June 26: Lunch (TBA, Mammoth Lakes)
~1PM Saturday, June 26: Arrive at Inyo National Forest
~2PM Saturday, June 26: Check-in Agnew Meadows campground. Setup camp, free to do as you please. Please be back for group dinner.
~6PM Saturday, June 26: Group Dinner

Sunday, June 27: Morning Devotional. Brunch shortly after service. Free day, do as you please… Experience the wilderness area. Mini Group Hikes, Tours and etc…
Group brunch and dinner. Cold cuts to go....

Monday, June 28: Activities: Hike, Fish, Swim (whatever floats your boat)
AM Monday, June 28: Group Breakfast
AM Monday, June 28: Cold cuts for lunch
PM Monday June 28: Group Dinner

Tuesday, June 29: Brunch. Pack up.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW NOW or SHOULD KEEP IN MIND...
  • Making sure you have all your equipment, if you’re going to borrow equipment from someone, get it a.s.a.p.
  • Setup your carpool with other campers now.
  • Carpools are responsible for all their transportation expenses during the trip.
  • Please help with the person driving you by reimbursing them for the cost of gas, etc…round-trip is about approximately 620 miles or 6 hours one-way.
  • If you are planning to hike, make sure to bring hiking shoes that you've use before and bring nail clippers.
  • Group meals: Breakfast, Dinner. Please plan accordingly for all other meals (sandwiches for lunch)
  • Bring your own bottled water, favorite drinks, and snacks (drinks not provided)
  • There are flush toilets and potable water at our campground.
  • We will caravan to the park, if you have FRS/GRMS radios (walkie-talkies), bring them.
  • Bring cash for incidentals during the trip (limited ATMs at the park).
  • BEAR COUNTRY! All food must be locked in bear lockers!
  • Showers fed by natural hot spring are available at Red Meadows campground, it's free. Donation accepted.

WHAT TO BRING

  • Tent
  • Sleeping Bag (recommend that they are rated 30 degrees F)
  • Pillow
  • Air Mattress (optional)
  • Clothing: Warm clothes for the evenings (jeans, sweatshirts w/ hood, jackets, sweatpants, and pajamas.) Cool clothes for the day time (shirts, T-shirts, hats, swimsuit).
  • Towels
  • Toiletries: toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, lotion, hairbrush, combs, etc. Lots of quarters (coins) for showers.
  • Shoes: walking + hiking shoes (at least two pairs), rubber slippers for taking showers.
  • Nail clippers.
  • Bundle of Fire wood per car.

OTHER EQUIPMENT

  • Flashlight
  • Portable lamps
  • Insect repellant (with DEET)
  • Sunscreen
  • First Aid: Band-Aids, Tylenol, cough syrup, Pepto or Mylanta
  • Chair
  • Batteries for radios and flashlights
  • Coolers for food storage


OTHER

  • Tool Box
  • Camera (for making memories)
  • Bring your own drinks. Drinks WILL NOT be provided. Bring enough to last 3 days (esp. water)!!!
  • Bring your own snacks, especially for days when we will be hiking (i.e. trail mix, nuts, dried fruit).
  • Bring some spending money just in case you want to purchase things on the day trip(s).

*If you are going to share equipment with anyone, i.e. a tent, make sure you know how many people fit in the tent so there’s plenty of room.
